What Came Into the Kitchen
Today was a full reset day.
I did a big Costco run (over $400) and restocked for the week ahead.
Proteins:
- Ground beef (weekly staple)
- Chicken thighs (for more loaf pan recipes this week)
- Brats (first time I’ve seen them this season)
- Pork chops (planning to freeze half, use half this week)
Dairy / Staples:
- Milk
- Eggs
- Butter
- Bacon
- Heavy cream
Produce (weekly basics):
- Salad greens
- Spinach
- Apples
- Peppers
- Avocados
- Bell peppers
- Oranges
Tempted and Purchased:
That’s It Bars
That’s It Crunchy Apple Bites
Fun / Seasonal:
- Watermelon (first of the season — couldn’t resist)

What I Cooked Today
Nothing major today — mostly a reset + prep day.
- Put everything away after Costco
- Cut up the watermelon (honestly about a 6/10, which is pretty good for March)
Planning ahead:
- Tomorrow I’ll cook the ground beef into a big pot of chili
- I’ll also cook the remaining ground beef plain for meals later in the week (probably some burger bowls)
- I’ll also make some ‘Brat Bites’ for lunch tomorrow
What We Ate
Lunch
- Used up the last of the steak from last night
- Made Costco crispy chicken – always a hit with the kids on a salad
- Big salads using:
- leftover lettuce
- sliced veggies my mom brought over last night for our bonfire/grill night
Everyone is suddenly in a “salad era” at my house, which I’m not mad about.
This pretty much cleared out the fridge.
Dinner (Family Night)
Most Sunday nights, we have a big family dinner at my parents’ house, and it’s honestly such a gift.
My mom made steaks, and we all ate there together.
And one of the best parts — I got sent home with leftovers:
- 4 steaks
- A container of roasted potatoes
Which means…future meals are already started for this week. I like to use the steaks for a quick wrap or sometimes I’ll turn them into a quick fajita dinner….we’ll see how the week goes.

- Fridge → cleared out before restock
- Family dinner → turned into meals for the week (steak + potatoes)
- New groceries → ready to be turned into meals
What’s Next
Tomorrow will be a protein prep day again:
- Big pot of chili with ground beef
- Cook the rest of the ground beef plain for easy meals later in the week
I’ll also start working through the chicken thighs again — I’m definitely making another round of the loaf pan version, but I want to try a few different seasoning blends this time.
This is my favorite rhythm —
clear out the fridge, restock, and start building the week all over again.
