Current Fridge Protein & Leftover Inventory (Start of Day)

Very low on protein — and honestly, I love starting the week this way

  • Leftover grilled meats from last night’s Blackstone dinner (chicken and polish sausage)
  • Small amount of leftover chicken from Friday night (Silver Spring House)
  • 2 pouches of raw chicken breast (from a 3-pack my husband grabbed at Costco yesterday — 1 pouch already used on the Blackstone last night)
  • Ground beef from Costco (also grabbed yesterday — untouched)

Morning

Breakfast was homemade and cozy:

  • Made a fresh batch of homemade biscuits
  • Cooked bacon

A little backstory on the biscuits: My son once came home from breakfast at Bob Evans with my parents and told me they had “the best biscuits.” I have never recovered. Now anytime someone says “can we have biscuits?” I say — of course I can make biscuits. It’s become a full running joke in this house.

Lunch (Full Fridge Clean-Out)

Used up every last bit of protein in the fridge:

  • All the leftover Blackstone meats from last night
  • The leftover Silver Spring House chicken — I had mine on a salad
  • Annie’s mac and cheese on the side (I buy it in bulk from Costco)

→ Old protein in the fridge is now essentially cleared out — exactly where I want to be on a Sunday. Nothing old sitting in the back going to waste.

I managed to break my glass salad dressing container…so I immediately ordered a new one. I use this DAILY! I’ve tried several other brands and they are either too small or too difficult to clean!

Afternoon (Light Prep + Snacks)

Even though Sundays are usually low-key, I had a free moment and used it:

Chicken prep for tomorrow:

  • Cut and seasoned both remaining pouches of chicken breast
  • Ready to go on the grill tomorrow — zero work needed in the morning

Pizza dough:

  • Made a 1.5x batch of the King Arthur Flour Cheesy Pan Pizza dough (I’ll link the recipe — it was their recipe of the year, can’t remember which year exactly)
  • This dough sits in the fridge for 2–4 days and when you’re ready, you just pull it out around 2pm, let it rise, and you have homemade pizza with almost zero effort and zero mess
  • It is genuinely one of the easiest buttons I can push for a weeknight dinner

Produce inventory + snack:

  • Went through the fridge and pulled out fruit and veggies for an afternoon snack
  • Chips alongside
  • Made homemade shaved ice — it was 80+ degrees, so obviously

Side note: We are dangerously low on Torani syrup. We need to make a trip to Jungle Jim’s — they have a huge Torani display and summer is coming. This is urgent.

Dinner (At My Parents’ House)

My parents do Sunday dinner for us pretty regularly — we are very blessed.

Tonight my mom made steaks, and as always, she sent us home with leftovers:

  • 2 leftover steaks
  • Sweet potatoes
  • Cooked veggies
  • Leftover fruit from appetizers

→ So we’re not starting the week completely from zero after all

Post-Dinner / Looking Ahead

What’s in the fridge now:

  • 2 cooked steaks + sides from my parents
  • Chicken breast (cut, seasoned, ready to grill)
  • Ground beef (untouched — full package from Costco)

The plan for tomorrow:

  • Grill the chicken
  • Make burgers at lunch for the kids (half the ground beef); I’ll make A LOT of burgers so we have leftovers for easy lunches later in the week.
  • Cook the rest of the ground beef and turn it into taco meat

→ A solid start to the week with fresh protein coming in and nothing old sitting around. This is the reset I like.
